Tokyo, Apr 5, 2006 - (JCN) - Some of Daiichi Pharmaceutical’s Intrathecal Baclofen therapy products are now listed for national health insurance reimbursement. One of them is the SynchroMed infusion system that comprises of the SynchroMed EL pump and the InDura catheter.
Intrathecal Gabalon (baclofen) and the SynchroMed system are used to treat severe spasticity in patients if conventional treatments don’t. The system involves a surgically implanted pump that automatically delivers baclofen directly to the spinal cord when needed.
Dosages delivered can be individually tailored are generally less than if taken orally. The SynchroMed system markedly reduces severe spasticity.
